Dawn

Sorgh Pa Svarte Vingar Flogh

(c)1996 Necropolis Records

Review by Mark Rafferty

"Sorgh Pa Svarte Vingar Flogh" (translates to "Sorrow Flew on black wings") is the second release from Dawn and I must admit the first I have heard from this band. Their sound has often been compared to that of Dissection's as they play that style of melodic black/death and I think the comparison is equitable. This is a mini CD containing 4 tracks. The first is just an intro, clean played classical type guitar. The next two tracks are the meat of this release, two very nice pieces of metal in the black/death vein, aggressively delivered with melody and emotion. The last cut is a cover of Infernal Majesty's "Night of the Living Dead", more of a thrashier tune. This is a great effort leaving me in much anticipation of a new full length release.
