Tribes Of Neurot & Walking Time Bombs,Static Migration

(c)(p)1998 Relapse Records / Release Entertainment

A team of Tribes Of Neurot and Walking Time Bombs delivers to us this very interesting exploratin of dark soft industrial music. The title "Static Migration" is almost too fitting for most of the songs, it seems as though it could be music by which 'static' could be moving from one place to another, almost as though the static were alive in some sense. It is very difficult to say whether this music is soothing or aggravating, for it has a simple monotonous pattern usually overlaid with a flowing synth. It even goes so far as to approach the death industrial sound, albeit much cleaner and not nearly as harsh, on the track "March To The Sun".

While not as dark in nature as Tribes Of Neurot's regular outtings, this dual attempt certainly presents an interesting set of sounds and noises not to be heard anywhere else.

TAC,Apotropaismo

TAC seeks to create an atmosphere by using soothing melodies combined with various sounds and effects. The result is a music that will allow you to sit back, enjoy, and conjure various imagery in your head. There is no clear story or direction to the music of this recording, rather a collection of various songs recorded and mixed at various times and finally released in 1997. It could be argued that TAC isn't necessarily dark, but they do provide a similar atmosphere to other bands like Lull, simply a lighter version of that atmosphere. With that comparison however the music of TAC is still let to be quite dark at times, not necessarily a brooding low end sound, rather a sorrow or despair evoking sound set within tribal rhythms or electronic sequencing.

TAC is by far only for the adventurous, but does present quite an approachable form of music that is never overwhelming and usually quite relaxing.
