Wicked Angel

Heads Will Roll

1997 Wicked Angel

1997 Raven Music Group

Review by Neil St. Laurent

Thanks to Raven for the CD

Formed in 1992 by Rob Rose, Wicked Angel for years have been defining their own style of music over the past 6 years. While Wicked Angel holds strong roots in the hard rock/classic metal genres of the 80's, it has a respectable position in the 90's music scene.

Never too overwhelming in nature, nor ever too light in approach, the focus of the music is that of rock-n-roll with a hard twist to it. Catchy and listenable, the tunes are playgrounds for the guitarwork of Vicki Rose and Dwight Farmer; a tight pair who play off each other in order to produce a very solid rhythm and flow to the music -- not without the requisite solos we've come to expect from this type of music.

Comparable to the strength of the guitar pair, the concrete foundation of the music comes from bassist Tony Pack and drummer Steve Payne. While their approach and style wouldn't hold the exhausting riffs of extreme metal, it is that exact simple elegance that keeps the music approachable and enjoyable by a wide audience.

From crunching, screaming, and an organ to melody, harmony and energy, Wicked Angel's "Heads Will Roll" is a solid work that shouldn't receive many complaints from any classic metal or hard rock listener.

Wicked Angel is:
Rob Rose - Vocals
Vicki Rose - Guitars
Dwight Farmer - Guitars
