Bengal Tigers

In One Ear

SM Records

Review by Vladimir Levin

Thanks to the band for the CD

This 15 odd minute CD comes to us all the way from Australia. The style immediately reminds me of 80's style hard rock, with its simple guitar-riffs and solos, slightly pouty vocals and rock-anthem choruses. Anything from AC/DC to old Judas Priest applies as far as style is concerned. Who said the 80's sound was dead? All the songs are pretty similar -- catchy, although lacking inspiration at times; the chorus on track 3 ("Leather") earnestly repeating "Together in Leather, Together with you..." is fairly typical.

While I am a big fan of bands like Iron Maiden and Metallica from the 80's, I have never been particularly interested in the whole patent-leather 80's glam scene, so I'd really need a longer CD from these guys to do a complete evaluation.

The technique is reasonably good, the style is clean and simple. Ultimately it's simple: If you enjoy 80's rock/metal, you'll enjoy this album.
