Thanks to Century Media for the CD

Perhaps it was about time that a live recording of Grave was released, or perhaps after hearing this you'll want to go put on the studio records of Grave from your collection. The major point to be made about "Extremely Rotten Live" is that it's heavy!

A cacophonous mixture of the low end continually emanates even from speakers that you thought didn't have any bass capacity. Tuned down, and almost out at times, the guitar track (which probably shouldn't called that that since it's live) blends in quite well with the bass track. Working together, the less than extreme tempo trudges forward and holds the music together. Then while not quite so technically impressive, but certainly emotionally intense, the music breaks from into a grinding rage. Since this is a live album we'll however have to forgive Grave their somewhat unimpressive technical switching from riff to riff. Nevertheless, the production still comes across as a bit boring. The crew behind the recording did a great job of capturing what the live sound was like, but didn't do a very good job at capturing the raw emotion that comes with a Grave performance.

No Grave fan should be disappointed with this release. Indeed no Old School Death fan will be discontent with this release. On the other hand, this may not be a suitable introduction to the genre for a novice listener.
