Geezer

Black Science

TVT Records 1997

Review by Neil StLaurent

Less Burton Bell, Geezer is back with new vocalist Clark Brown. This change of singers has somewhat altered the end result of the music. Brown had little to do with the lyrics so the continuation of the less than thrilling adventures in the lyrical content continues. The attempt at "realism" is somewhat cheesy and the metphorical and fantastical lyrics are very dated and unoriginal.

The approach to the music is very mechnical. The guitar will blurt out continuous riffs, not too original -- just good enough that the music will flow and give the singer something to work with. The drumming is very standard to the metal genre. Indeed this whole recording is very standard.

This album is listenable and somewhat enjoyable. It's classic metal that doesn't excel in any manner. If you purchase this album, just don't expect anything amazing.

Geezer is:
Geezer Butler - Bass, Keyboards
Pedro Howse - Guitars
Clark Brown - Vocals
Deen Castronovo - Drums
