The strongest emotional expression derives the partial growling, low guttoral vocals -- which appear quite infrequently. The standard somewhat agnst ridden/grieving emotion is provided by the slightly raspy vocals of John Rich. Complementing this emotion are the none too happy lyrics by John.
On the technical side, we see generally standard drumming, from Muraca, holding together the music. While the strength of the music is there it's is as much a result of the music being structurally simple as it is the band members' ability to play. Not to say that they aren't good at what they do -- they are attempting a simple style and achieve it quite well. Unfortunately some of the drumming does get tiresome in the accelerated segments.
It really comes down to Vitamin F being balanced music that, while done fairly well, seems to missing something. Being listenable and enjoyable makes for a good listening experience, but it just seems to be missing the oomph required to make one put it in one's CD player again and again. Given this could be attributed to the production, I'd say the band should have been more involved with Vic Steffens' mixing sessions.
Overall however I'd say Vitamin F is a quality band. While it may not enjoy extended longevity in the CD player, it should find itself there for at least a little while. And for the period it is playing you will definitely be having an enjoyable listening experience.
Vitamin F is:
Marcello Muraca-Drums
Renato Ghio-Guitars
John Rich-Bass, Vocals
