Well, this is it, this could possibly be the last EoS album. Dan has expressed his interest in moving on from it, but I wouldn't doubt it if the combination of Axelson and Larsson go on to do something together. This album is essentially a mix of Swano songs and Axelson/Larsson songs, no relation between them at all. Except for "The Last Song", which expresses what Dan was/is feeling about EoS, Dan let other people write the lyrics for the song's he wrote. Essentially the Swano songs are just that, Swano songs, not much for a band performance on them.
The songs are a mixture of extreme death metal (with a few influences of black) and the more melodic songs. An excellent assortment of riffs and beats that vary a great deal from song to song. It's hard to be too specific about the way everything sounds, since it's so different throughout the album. Generally it's all extremely good, and surpasses "Crimson" and "Purgatory Afterflow" in quality, going back to the more extreme sounds of "The Spectral Sorrows". Axelson lends his vocal talent to a couple of the songs giving a higher pitch more shrieklike sound.
There really isn't too much to say, it's a great album. If EoS is indeed splitting up then at least they ended on "Infernal" rather than "Crimson". Based on their performances on this album though I'll be trying to follow what happens with not just Swano, but with Axelson and Larsson. Definitely an album that everybody should enjoy.
