Dolric grabbed the Crite from the altar and raised it to the air. A great light burst from the artifact and crushed most of what you know about music.
Hailing from Quebec, Canada, Transcendence has made the offering of the first installment in a three part series. The CD with an operatic structure tells the tale of the mighty Dolric who must rise and become defender of the humans by quashing the Acrons attempts to destroy the earth. Throughout the four movements of the CD the story will unfold before your ears; a story which promised by the band is the first installment of a greater three part story, the next two segments to make their appearance on the next two CDs from Transcendence. Given the quality of this disk there should be no problem getting the other installments out.
"Eternal Stream" holds both a technical and emotional content, a combination that is hard to find, as one normally opposes the other. The best listening environment would be a dark room wearing headphones in order to let you best experience the ambient moods and hamonic blending of every instrument. Old school metalheads need not bother, as the keyboards are present on a continual basis. Accompanying the sombre atmosphere is an assortment of clean and acoustic gutairs. The sound is however rounded off with an original intense distorted guitar. So in most sense of the word this is still very much a metal album, just one with an incredible amount of emotion as presented through the often tranquil atmosphere. Okay, so maybe some of the interludes having nothing to do with metal. Adding both a flute and some violins the mood created will draw you far away from reality and slowly set the stage for the destruction of the Acrons.
There is no way that any member of the band could be singled out. They are each credited for doing a variety of things and it's a complete success. So successful in fact that, although not quite in the same genre of music, "Eternal Stream" is right alongside with "Eternity" by doomsters Anathema. I would struggle to find any significant problems with the album, even after it has looped for the 100th time in my CD player. Transcedence is nothing short of an excellent band.
